Thomas & Hutton has an opening for an experienced Survey Crew Chiefto join our Survey Department in Charlotte, NC.
Survey Crew Chiefs are responsible for directing crews of two or more people in successfully completing a variety of field assignments. It is a supervisory position that requires high impact decisions and directing the work of others while continuing to perform the same technical duties as other crew members. The work can be both mentally and physically challenging and must be performed in a wide range of conditions.
Minimum Requirements:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: 3+ years experience as a Survey Crew Chief preferred. Prior experience conducting boundary and topographic surveys required. Experience with ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, construction staking and Carlson SurvCE data collection software are a plus.
Skills:
This position will require driving. A valid driver's license is required.
Working knowledge of data collectors, robotic total stations, GPS equipment and automatic and/or digital levels.
The ability to work a regular four-day schedule of 630AM - 530PM Monday - Thursday.
Strong math skills
Written and verbal communication skills
Experience preparing detailed survey field notes and sketches of work performed.
The ability to perform strenuous physical activity in a wide range of temperatures and work environments.
The ability for occasional overnight travel
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in an environment that may contain venomous snakes and insects such as ticks, red bugs, wasps, bees, hornets, yellow jackets, etc.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Ability to work with a wide range of temperatures.
Ability to climb hills and walk long distances.
Ability to traverse different types of terrain.
Ability to lift and carry up to 75lbs.
Ability to interact both verbally and written
